Our Sunday school kids recently performed their first Christmas play at SBC this past Sunday. Our church looks forward to many more Christ-centred plays in the future.

Our church's annual Christmas lunch was held at Christ Church in Somerset West. Our church members were treated to a live carol performance, a Christmas sermon and a spitbraai. Our annual church camp was held at Wortelgat in Hermanus this year. The camp provided our church members with an opportunity to worship our Lord and fellowship with other members in a fun and relaxing environment. Our ladies fellowship meetings include skill-sharing opportunities. This month our ladies learnt how to sew bowl covers and enjoyed good fellowship with each other. Stellenbosch Bible Church recently inducted Graham Guthrie as a new elder. Graham also serves as an SBC bible study leader in Durbanville.
Our church hosted its annual Christmas carols service on the 11th of December in celebration of the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Our church family enjoyed a meal together followed by a Christmas-themed worship session led by our worship team. Our annual church retreat was held in Hermanus at Habonim Campsite in Onrus this year. Our SBC family was graciously hosted by Pastor Martyn Beets. The retreat focused on preaching ( Pastor Lönngren Taljaard and Pastor Martyn Beets) to edify and encourage saints in their walk with the Lord and worship to glorify and give praise to our Lord. The retreat also gave our church family an opportunity to physically refresh themselves by either spending time relaxing at the beach or energising themselves by playing volley ball or soccer during the day; fun board games were played in the evening after supper. Stellenbosch Bible Church values and prioritises church fellowship and as such our church creates opportunities for our church family to enjoy more fellowship with one another. On the 15th of April 2022 our church enjoyed a fun-filled 'games and picnic' afternoon. We had a blessed time playing various games and enjoying some picnic eats. Easter Friday is a special day for all believers because it reminds us of the death of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This year we celebrated Easter Friday with a church service followed by a church luncheon where our members and visitors could fellowship with one another over a good meal.
One of the core values of Stellenbosch Bible Church is honouring the great commission of our Lord (Matthew 28:19-20) and in obedience with this commandment our church went on its first short-term missions outreach to Plettenburg Bay for two days. The mission was also aimed at supporting a young, bible-believing church (Grace Church Plettenburg Bay) which is under the eldership of Pastor Yorke Hinds. The church took to the streets to spread the message of salvation through grace alone (Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9-10) and to also invite whomever we encountered to visit Grace Church in order to hear the teaching of sound doctrine. On the second day of the outreach, Pastor Lönngren Taljaard conducted a street-preaching session on the main road of Plettenburg Bay- preaching the good news of the gospel to the lost. |
