A Short Introduction
We began meeting in 2015 when no more than a handful of believers met one Sunday morning around a dinner table in Somerset West. Although our first few meetings took place in Somerset West, it soon became evident that this little church would have Stellenbosch as its focus. Soon too the need arose for a name and after some suggestions were put forward, the unanimous decision was that the church would be called 'Stellenbosch Bible Church'.
The name truly says it all. In an age where many have forsaken the fundamental teachings of Scripture, we seek to reawaken love for the Bible and encourage commitment to the message it proclaims. This desire is prompted by our conviction that the Scriptures are without fault (innerant), and that it is indeed sufficient to lead people toward a thorough understanding of who God is, and what He has commanded us.
For this reason Scripture regulates every facet of what we do, from acknowledging those who have been saved by God's grace to shepherding, counseling, comforting, and encouraging them through the regular exposition of the Word in a verse by verse fashion. The fundamental commitment of the SBC is to present everyone mature in Christ (Colossians 1:28) by faithfully preaching the Word (2 Tim. 4:4).
